Reassessing North Eastern Atlantic‐Mediterranean species of Trapania (Mollusca, Nudibranchia)

چکیده
Trapania is the second largest genus belonging to family Goniodorididae, of which most species are reported from Indo-Pacific waters. To date, there nine distributed along temperate coasts East Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea: fusca, graeffei, hispalensis, lineata, maculata, orteai, pallida, sanctipetrensis tartanella. However, validity some these has been problematic due uncertain taxonomic characteristics used for differentiation species. The a very uniformly external morphology similar internal anatomy. As consequence, features commonly differentiate have colour pattern body radula. In present study, we perform morphological molecular revision Atlantic-Mediterranean Trapania. Morphological analyses include dissections scanning electron microscope photographs radulae, labial cuticles penises. Molecular work includes phylogenetic, delimitation haplotype network analyses. Our results bring doubt on so far, suggesting that richness North Eastern overestimated. T. lineata pallida shown belong same taxa, with as senior synonym.

A new species of zephyrinid nudibranch of the genus Janolus Bergh 1884 is described from the Pacific Coast of North America and Costa Rica. J. anulatus sp. nov. differs from other species of Janolus by its external and internal morphology. J. anulatus has a brown or white body with pink, white, and brown spots, smooth papillae epithelium at the base and papillated in the distal part, unbranched...
متن کاملA tropical Atlantic species of Melibe Rang, 1829 (Mollusca, Nudibranchia, Tethyiidae)
A new species of Melibe is described based on two specimens collected in Florida. This new species is well differentiated morphologically and genetically from other species of Melibe studied to date. The four residue deletions in the cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 protein found in all previously sequenced tropical species of Melibe sequenced (and Melibe rosea) are also present in this new speci...
متن کاملCnidosac-Related Structures in Embletonia (Mollusca, Nudibranchia) Compared with Dendronotacean and Aeolidacean Species
In defense against attack by predators, cnidosacs in the tips of cerata (dorsal appendages) of aeolidacean nudibranchs discharge masses of mature nematocysts that are derived from cnidarian food. Cnidosac-related structures in various nudibranchs may provide a reconstruction of potential steps in the evolution of cnidosacs. Such structures in the cerata of the two valid species of Embletoniidae...
متن کاملTaxonomic review of the family Discodorididae (Mollusca: Gastropoda: Nudibranchia) from Brazil, with descriptions of two new species.
The family Discodorididae was previously represented by 11 species in Brazil; however, recently collected specimens from several localities in Rio de Janeiro, in addition to the study of material previously deposited in scientific collections, revealed the existence of 13 taxa: Diaulula greeleyi (MacFarland, 1909), Discodoris hummelincki (Ev. Marcus & Er. Marcus, 1963) comb. nov., Discodoris br...
متن کاملA Biomonitoring Study: Heavy Metals in Monodonta turbinata (Mollusca: Gastropoda) From Iskenderun Bay, North-Eastern Mediterranean
Metal (Fe, Zn, Cd, Cu, Co, Ni, Al, Mn, Pb and Cr) levels were investigated in the muscle tissue of Monodonta turbinata from seven different stations in Iskenderun Bay. Accumulations of all elements were effected from seasonal changes in all stations. The highest levels of Zn (101.42 g/g), Cd (9.01 g/g), Cu (334.47 g/g) and Pb (90.8 g/g) were found in the station Çevlik. However, the highest...
